Chia seeds reduce cholesterol, have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, help brain function and are a very good source of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids.
They are also used for pressure problems, heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and cell regeneration during pregnancy.
Chia seeds come in several varieties and can be eaten raw, roasted, ground or mixed with water.
How to use: Soak 1 tsp. sweet seeds for half an hour in water.
The resulting jelly is consumed before lunch.
We can also mix them into cereals, sauces, salads, yogurt, cookies and smoothies.
Chia jelly can be mixed with lemon and some sweetener to make 'chia fresca', a popular drink in Mexico.
